MISSIONARY WORK

"Brethren, to each of us comes the mandate to share the gospel of Christ. . . . The perfect Shepherd of souls, the missionary who redeemed mankind, gave us His divine assurance. . . 'How great shall be your joy.’" ~President Thomas S. Monson, "See Others as They May Become", October 2012 General Conference

"We are all in this together. With fellow ward members and missionaries, we plan and pray and help one another. Please keep the full-time missionaries in your thoughts and prayers. Trust them with your family and friends. The Lord trusts them and has called them to teach and bless those who seek Him." ~ Elder Neil L. Anderson, "It's a Miracle", April 2013 General Conference

"Your exemplary lives will attract the interest of your friends and neighbors. Be ready to give an answer to those who ask why you live as you do. Be ready to give a reason for the hope and joy that they see in you. When such questions come, you might respond by saying, 'Let’s ask the missionaries! They can help us! And if you desire, I will be at your side as the missionaries respond and teach you.'" ~ Elder Russell M. Nelson, "Catch the Wave", April 2013 General Conference

"Through your dedicated devotion at home or abroad, those souls whom you help to save may well be those whom you love the most." ~ President Thomas S. Monson, "Come All Ye Sons of God", April 2013 General Conference

"I am convinced that missionary work is not easy because salvation is not a cheap experience. Salvation never was easy. We are the Church of Jesus Christ, this is the truth, and He is our Great Eternal Head. How could we believe it would be easy for us when it was never, ever easy for Him?" ~ Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, "Missionary Work and the Atonement", Ensign, March 2001

"The best-known examples of unique LDS service and sacrifice are the work of our missionaries. Currently they number more than 50,000 young men and young women and over 5,000 adult men and women." ~Elder Dallin H. Oaks,"Sacrafice," April 2012 General Conference

"When we served in the mission field in Córdoba, Argentina, she strongly encouraged the use of the Book of Mormon in our proselytizing efforts. Jeanene confirmed early in her life that those who consistently read the Book of Mormon are blessed with an added measure of the Spirit of the Lord, a greater resolve to obey His commandments, and a stronger testimony of the divinity of the Son of God." ~Elder Richard G. Scott, The Power of Scripture, October 2011 General Conference

"Ours is the responsibility to help fulfill the Abrahamic covenant. Ours is the seed foreordained and prepared to bless all people of the world. That is why priesthood duty includes missionary work."~ Elder Russel M. Nelson, Covenants, October 2011 General Conference

"As we go about living from day to day, it is almost inevitable that our faith will be challenged. We may at times find ourselves surrounded by others and yet standing in the minority or even standing alone concerning what is acceptable and what is not" ~ President Thomas S. Monson, Dare to Stand Alone, October 2011 General Conference

"Your mission will be a sacred opportunity to bring others to Christ and help prepare for the Second Coming of the Savior." ~ Elder Neil L. Anderson, Preparing the World for the Second Coming, April 2011 General Conference
CAPSTONE:
One of the three fold mission of the church is to proclaim the gospel. Just two weeks ago, we as church members were privileged to hear the special broadcast called The Work of Salvation. This momentous broadcast along with the quotes listed above by our prophets and apostles, teaches me that the Lord's work is hastening. I am so excited to see the changes taking place and be a part of those changes. Our responsibility to share the gospel  is a sacred opportunity. We have this chance everyday with everyone we come in contact with. It is not enough to sit back and wait for our friends and neighbors to ask us about the gospel of Jesus Christ. We must pray and actively ask for help in answering the prayers of others who are truly searching for the truth. We must also live in a way where the Spirit of God can work through us. I have recently recognized the promptings of the Spirit in sharing the gospel with some of the friends I work with. I must continue to be an example and not be afraid to share my beliefs.
