HOLY GHOST

"Not only is your feeling the influence of the Holy Ghost a sign that the Atonement, the cure for sin, is working in your life, but you will also know that a preventative against sin is working. The effects of the Atonement--the lack of pride, of envy, of malice--are a shield against temptation." ~Henry B. Eyring, Come Unto Christ, BYUDA 10/89.

"If you have felt the influence of the Holy Ghost today, you may take it as evidence that the Atonement is working in your life. For that reason and many others, you would do well to put yourself in places and in tasks that invite the promptings of the Holy Ghost." ~President Henry B. Eyring, "Gifts of the Spirit for Hard Times", CES Fireside for Young Adults • September 10, 2006 • Brigham Young University

"Knowing that the gospel is true is the essence of a testimony. Consistently being true to the gospel is the essence of conversion. We should know the gospel is true and be true to the gospel." ~ Elder David A. Bednar, "Converted unto the Lord", Ensign, November 2012

"You can know the things you need to know. Pray that you will learn to receive that inspiration and remain worthy to receive it. Keep that channel—your mind—clean and free from the clutter of the world." ~President Boyd K. Packer, "Prayer and Promptings", Ensign, November 2009

"These four words—“Receive the Holy Ghost”—are not a passive pronouncement; rather, they constitute a priesthood injunction—an authoritative admonition to act and not simply to be acted upon (see 2 Nephi 2:26)." ~Elder David A. Bednar; "Receive the Holy Ghost," October 2010 General Conference

"Those who yearn for true spiritual light and knowledge can only find it through the power of the Holy Ghost. The Spirit enlightens and gives understanding of the eternal purpose of life. By the Spirit, Church members know the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is true." ~Elder M. Russell Ballard; Ensign, May 1996, Page 80

"Simply stated, testimony--real testimony, born of the Spirit and confirmed by the Holy Ghost--changes lives. It changes how you think and what you do. It changes what you say. It affects every priority you set and every choice you make." ~Elder M. Russell Ballard, "Pure Testimony", Ensign, Nov. 2004, 40

"The development of faith in the Lord is an individual matter. Repentance is also an individual matter. Only as an individual can one be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost. Each of us is born individually; likewise, each of us is "born again" individually. Salvation is an individual matter."~ Elder Russell M. Nelson,"Salvation and Exaltation", Ensign May 2008, 7–10

"In our search to obtain relief from the stresses of life, may we earnestly seek ways to simplify our lives. May we comply with the inspired counsel and direction the Lord has given us in the great plan of happiness. May we be worthy to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost and follow the guidance of the Spirit as we navigate this mortal journey. May we prepare ourselves to accomplish the ultimate purpose of this mortal test-to return and live with our Heavenly Father."~L. Tom Perry, "Let Him Do It with Simplicity", Ensign, Nov 2008, 7–10

"As we remember and honor the Prophet Joseph Smith, my heart reaches out to him in gratitude. He was a good, honest, humble, intelligent, and courageous young man with a heart of gold and an unshaken faith in God. He had integrity. In response to his humble prayer, the heavens opened again. Joseph Smith had actually seen a vision. He knew it, and he knew that God knew it, and he could not deny it (see Joseph Smith-History 1:25). Through his work and sacrifice, I now have a true understanding of our Heavenly Father and His Son, our Redeemer and Savior, Jesus Christ, and I can feel the power of the Holy Ghost and know of Heavenly Father's plan for us, His children. For me, these are truly the fruits of the First Vision." ~Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "Precious Fruits of the First Vision", Liahona, Feb 2009, 2–6

CAPSTONE:
The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead. His most important function is to testify of the Father and the Son. He is also a great revealer and teacher of truth. We are blessed to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost when we are baptized. That important companionship can act as a voice of warning or lead us to service. He can bring peace into our hearts and will testify of all truth. I believe that if we live worthily all of the time, we can have the Holy Ghost with constantly and he will be helping us. This is such a great gift from our Heavenly Father. Only through the Holy Ghost will we be able to see the Father and the Son face to face one day. We learn and understand his purpose and follow his promptings. We must all pay close attention if we are to hear the Spirit and his still small voice. I am so grateful for this precious gift and pray that I will always heed his promptings.
